Copy Writer, Copy Editor, Proofreader.

Nancy Simonds is a former educator and human resources administrator with a strong background in teaching writing and communication skills.

In 2000, Nancy decided to parlay her writing, editing, teaching, and interviewing skills into a communication business. Since then, she has helped hundreds of individuals, students, professors, companies, nonprofits, municipalities, boards of education, and colleges with their written projects.

Improving her skills

Nancy is always on the lookout for ways she can build on and strengthen her communication skills. In 2002, she took a certificate course in Copy Editing and Proofreading from St. Joseph College (now called the University of St. Joseph) in Hartford, Connecticut. It was unexpectedly difficult, which let the former English teacher know she must be learning something of value! Every day, Nancy applies what she learned in that terrific course.

Teaching and presenting

Nancy does workshops and other presentations at local Chambers of Commerce, networking groups, library programs, and entrepreneurial classes. She loves teaching (her original career!) and helping people create their best possible marketing tools and written projects.

Strategic alliances

One of the best ways to build a business is through strategic partnerships. Nancy has alliances with many other creative service providers, including graphic designers, web developers, photographers, and even other writers. Together, Nancy and her team can provide any of the creative services a company needs to promote itself effectively.

Education

Nancy holds a BA in English/Education and an MA in Education, both from the University of Connecticut; a Certificate in Human Resources from Post University; a Certificate in Copy Editing and Proofreading from St. Joseph College; and has completed numerous workshops and training sessions on writing web content. Ann Wylie is Nancy’s writing guru!

On the personal side

Nancy lives in Connecticut, near the beautiful Connecticut River, with her husband Michael. They enjoy riding their bicycles along historic roads in New England, bird watching, and meditating on the beach.
